Otter House Activity— Once again tonight we go for the gold… Pokemon gold! Joe Foo draws the number one Pokemon… number one on the Pokedex that is. He is Bulbasaur! First, he shows off his original sketch, then he shows you how to draw this Pokemon using simple shapes! Can you draw a Bulbasaur using a square and eight circles? Of course you can!
Otter House Activity — “Ah, buenos dias! My siestas are getting are getting chorter and chorter.” In tonight’s video, Joe Foo draws Josè from the Enchanted Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki-Tiki Room using simple shapes! Foo also introduces the video in front of the Tiki Room in Disneyland on the weekend of the 55th anniversary of the attraction. The Hawaiian fire goddess Pele looks on over Foo’s should.
Back in the studio, Foo sketches Josè using eight circles and a triangle. He also introduces a “line of action” to his drawing process. Grab your art supplies and start drawing while all the birds sing words and the flowers croon! Continue reading
Octopus House Activity— Tonight… or today… Joe Foo draws a final sketch of Bambino, the main character from the Pixar Short La Luna. This is the conclusion to the three part series of videos focused around this character. First, Joe drew some thumbnail studies on a LIVE INSTAGRAM video. You can follow Joe on Instagram… the link is posted below. Second, Joe drew a preliminary sketch of Bambino, breaking him down into simple shapes. You can see that video here. Finally, Joe brings all of his plans together in this final sketch.
Joe also talks about Camp PencilPoint’s appearance at Makers Faire Detroit on July 28-29. All the artists of Camp PencilPoint will be there, and there will be six drawing session per day. Please join us for all of the fun, nonsense and tomfoolery! Continue reading
Otter House Activity— Tonight, Joe Foo draws a suggestion from Instagram! Using simple shapes, Joe will draw a COCKER SPANIEL that looks a little like Lady from Lady and the Tramp. Oh and we will give this sketch away to Emily, who gave us the suggestion.
Joe Foo takes a very complex character and breaks her down into simple shapes, giving beginners a simpler place to start. It also gives more experienced artists a chance to stretch their creative muscles and push the boundaries of their own art. If we are drawing too fast, feel free to pause, rewind or rewatch the video!
A mechanical pencil was used in this video, as was a Zebra Brush Pen. ChartPak markers were also used.
